Please tweet it! Twitter seems to fall somewhere in the middle of personal and professional social media.

Professional: Many journalists and media folks twitter for their lunch money. Even companies (like Dell who I work for, BTW) are twittering. And if Dell's experience is a foreshadowing of the future (so far Dell has realised 500k+ on direct links from their Dell Factory Outlet Twitter feed!) we are in for a flood of monetary twitter traffic. And thank goodness for the twitter model you can UN-FOLLOW at any time.

Personal: facebook and twitter and friendfeed seem to be the sweethearts of the social media frenzy at the moment. (Poor MySpace, left behind with the tweeners.) While I am not sure of the longevity of my Facebook enthusiasm I have jumped in with both feet, clad in Keens I might add. (BTW I was NOT PAID for that brand mention. Cause that's illegal unless I tell you I work for Keens, and I DON'T.)

I keep joining and creating new "groups" on facebook. And finding friends and expanding my network and even playing a game called Knighthood. I am proudly wearing my GREEN badge all over the place. But I did take my Obama affiliations off. So anyway, I'm joining all these groups, and about to launch another one today before I leave on vacation. Why?

I have also been posing the question to twitterers and facebook folks alike, "Why do we join all these groups?" 99% of them have ZERO activity. Thousands of members who are happy to put up the badge but are not commenting or interacting with each other in any way. Groups are an interesting way to find more friends or like-minded folks to connect with. But it doesn't seem like anyone is connecting! We're just joining groups, and flying flags and affinities and adding friends. It's like the myspace gold rush of 4 years ago. "Two thousand friends, my gosh, how do you really interact with that many 'friends.'"

Oh, sorry, did I get off topic… This was about shoes… No, about the separation between church and state or professional and personal web personas. Okay, that's right. So my answer to my brightly shod wife. Please do. Tweet away. And I'll start a group for you called, "Mommies who still dig sexy shoes and the men who lust after their smooth and tan ankles." And if you're looking for yet another TWITTER TOOL, here is an app that will let you TWEET pics from your phone or where ever you happen to have access to your social network. http://twitpic.com/

So get to it. Mix it up. And if you want to start over twitter has the great option, "Delete this account." but it is all probably logged and stored by Summize even if you do try to cover your tracks. --JMac
